Election Integrity, the Ultimate Non-Partisan Issue

Updated: Jul 18

By Elizabeth Dallam-Ayoub | July 15, 2024

More precious than gold, that is what each legal vote is. (HAVA, UOCAVA, and MOVE: Enforcing election laws as precious as Gold)

That is what the patriot 200 years ago knew when he, who had fought for the right to vote and not be governed by a king, asked that because he was unable to walk, to be carried to cast his ballot. (Freedom to Vote Worth it's Weight in Gold)

Since 2016 the words “election integrity” have been equated with the words “election denier,” “the far right,” and “Trump-followers.” One only has to run a quick search on the internet to learn this.

However, both political parties have raised concerns about election integrity since as early as 2005. Flashback: Trump lawyer plays video montage of Democrats doubting election results (rumble.com) (See specifically 4:16-5:51)

Michigan Fair Elections and other election integrity groups across the nation arose to preserve and protect the finest nugget of patriotism that exists today: one legal ballot cast by each person legally entitled to cast a ballot.

Protecting what is as precious as gold--the right to cast a ballot to elect whomever one chooses--is something you can do. Protecting the right to cast a ballot that counts only once and is not suppressed or negated by a ballot from someone not entitled to vote is a modern-day nugget of patriotism.

Whether a person leans Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or Green Party—whether they are old or young, able to walk or disabled, rich or poor, blind or seeing--Every United States citizen is entitled to cast a vote in the 2024 General Election. Everyone has the ability to make sure this happens.

Over the course of the next week, MFE will publish a series of short articles and links showcasing people working to protect and provide transparent, safe, and secure elections. These articles will answer the question: “What can I do?” They will address concerns shared by citizens regardless or race, creed, or political ideology.

We hope you will join us in exploring what you can do, and what others are doing to ensure free and fair elections.
