The Michigan Fair Elections Institute has just concluded an investigation that it has been conducting over the past several months, since the close of the November 5th Presidential Election. The initial focus of the project was merely to independently verify the results of the election that the State had received from each of Michigan’s 83 counties. However, as request after request for this information came back denied, suspicion began to mount.
The MFEI Data Team, sensing that something was amiss, began a data auditing project under the direction of Lead Data Analyst Tim Vetter. The Team, working alongside CheckMyVote.org founder Phani Mantravadi, and other prominent Michigan Election Integrity researchers and advocates, is now preparing to release the results of its 45-day investigation.
The results of this probe have revealed several major areas of concern with the State of Michigan’s election auditing, verification, and reporting, including that:
Vote count records were out-of-balance (more votes cast than recorded voters in the official statewide Voter Turnout Data Report as contrasted with the certified Statement of Votes Cast,) in 11 counties across the State of Michigan
Vote history records have been added, deleted, and altered post-certification.
Vote history designations have been switched from in-person to absentee and vice versa, which can potentially have the effect of altering overseas (UOCAVA) ballot designations.
Vote histories have been transferred from the voter ID that originated them to completely separate voter IDs of registrants who did not cast the recorded ballots.
Vote histories are sometimes moved to locations other than those from which they originated.
Vote histories have been duplicated at the state level, in contradiction to local records.
Vote histories have been scrubbed from voters who have an active status, and continue to participate in the electoral process.
The complete results of this investigation can be found in the report Here. MFEI's next move is to now focus on bringing this data to out-of-balance counties in an effort to encourage them to reconcile their vote totals, in addition to encouraging legislative and litigative efforts to correct what appear to be multiple failures of the administration of the state’s elections at local, county and statewide levels.
