On the eve of the 2024 election with so much at stake and so much unknown, many Michiganders are feeling historic levels of anxiety. That feeling is fully understandable. But from my vantage point, I want you to know, I’m feeling both thankful and ready.
Thankful for the tremendous outpouring of volunteer support over the past three years. Just recently, less than a week before early voting was scheduled to begin, when a judge’s decision required the city of Detroit to comply with the law and hire an equal number of Democrat and Republican poll workers, more than 1,000 brand new poll workers answered the call to be trained for early and Election Day voting. Many of these volunteers had less than 24 hours’ notice.
Detroit officials were shocked. It was clear. Never in recent history had an army of Michigan patriots stepped forward to pitch in.
That degree of readiness was no accident.
Volunteers from all walks of life arrived on the scene after the 2020 election, and they paved the way. These patriots spent months learning the system and gathering highly technical information. They investigated potential fault lines in the election process. They wrote code and articles and books. They studied the laws, both state and federal, and they came to know their elected representatives. They attended hearings and used social media and technology to spread the truth.

Simultaneously, generous donors made it possible to keep up the legal pressure. Counter lawfare efforts held back the Secretary of State’s relentless, partisan overreach in her administration of our elections. They challenged the flurry of unconstitutional statutes that undermined fair and honest elections--the foundation of our republic-- by those seeking power at any cost.
The progress Michigan election volunteers have made in the last three years has been remarkable. We will soon see how much impact we’ve been able to generate, but regardless of the outcome, consider what we have had to overcome:
In response to the Covid-created crisis, states imposed "emergency" election procedures that unleashed a flurry of unsecured mail-in ballots. Always considered an opportunity for fraud, mail-in and no-excuse absentee ballots became the new standard. In Michigan, our Secretary of State sent hundreds of thousands of ballot applications to registrants who had long since moved out of state or moved and registered elsewhere within the state. She registered untold thousands of so-called 'eligible but unregistered' voters if they did NOT reply to this postcard.
The Secretary of State's office mailed this card to 4.4 million 'eligible but unregistered' residents. Any who failed to decline were automatically registered to vote.
New election laws were passed allowing voting without ID, same day voting, drive-through voting, mobile van voting, mail-in ballot drop boxes, and automatic voter registration. Some states went so far as to allow non-citizens to vote in local elections.
Redistricting was taken away from the Legislature and put into the hands of an often naive and arguably stacked independent redistricting commission.
The Biden-Harris administration issued Executive Order 14019 directing every federal agency, including the US Customs and Immigration Services, to register voters, whose citizenship and identities are often not verified. Governor Gretchen Whitmer followed suit and issued Executive Directive 2022-4 ordering all state government agencies to do the same.
Every aspect of casting a ballot seemed to change overnight in high speed and seismic quakes that the legacy media failed to expose.
Then Elon Musk bought Twitter (now X) “in order to save humanity,” he said. Then he released the Twitter Files and lifted the veil concealing Big Government-Big Tech collusion to silence free speech. Come to find out, the whispers of conspiracy were proven true. The Government, third-party non-government organizations, and Big Tech were operating in league to shadow ban, ghost, and deplatform discussions on social media accounts, down to the level of quashing the truth about the Wuhan-laboratory origins of COVID-19 and the incriminating evidence found on the laptop verified as Hunter Biden's.
Amid the whirlwind of mind-bending changes and breath-taking revelations grew the unintended consequence of heightened citizen awareness. The anomalies, irregularities, and release of indisputable evidence woke up the citizenry. Voter innocence was lost.
The experience might have disheartened other people or caused them to grow cynical. Instead it tapped into some hard-wired American spirit that first blossomed when the Puritans stepped onto Plymouth Rock. This spirit sprouted deep roots in Daniel Boone and other frontiersman as they crossed the Alleghanies and fought to the death at the Texas Alamo. It impelled settlers to hitch their oxen to Conestoga wagons and stride westward. It prompted young Americans to fight and die for Europe's and then their own country's freedom in Word Wars I and II.
While it is true we are now less gullible, we are hardly a nation of cynics. Instead, we have adopted a healthy skepticism that will serve us tomorrow and beyond.
Whatever the outcome on Election Day, an army of election integrity volunteers is trained, on duty, and determined to tackle whatever comes next. God bless America and this resilient, awe-inspiring constitutional republic of the people, for the people, and by the people.
