Friend,
Unlikely heroes dwell amongst us. These regular people taking extraordinary actions are our neighbors and friends, our sisters and brothers. They are us.
Just as the police officers who charged up the Twin Towers stairwell to rescue trapped survivors of Sept. 11, 2001, were heroes, so too, was the Muskegon Clerk a hero when she reported 8,000 to 10,000 suspicious voter registration applications dropped off in her office a month before the 2020 general election.
The State Troopers were heroes who, over the course of two years, peeled away the rotten-onion layers of an interstate ring flooding fraudulent voter registrations into targeted jurisdictions.
The whistleblower who reported that the FBI had taken over the case and then gone silent was a hero. The yet-to-be-revealed investigator who filed the FOIA and obtained the State Police documents was a hero. The Election integrity aficionado Phil O’Halloran who took action on those documents was a hero.
Writers Benjamin Wetmore and Patty McMurray were heroes for writing the story. They soon recognized evidence showing that Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson were well aware of the two-year State Police investigation, yet the AG and SOS continued to spout language to the contrary, repeatedly claiming that no evidence of lawbreaking existed for the 2020 election.
As importantly, Wetmore and McMurray took on the hero's mantle when they recognized the false nature of Nessel's indictment of the 16 Michigan Presidential electors. These senior citizen volunteers had to be punished, Neseel insisted, because they had no justification for serving as alternate electors in the event the election was overturned . After all, 2020's election was "secure, fair, and accurate to the will of the voters," Nessel claimed as she sprouted a Pinnochio nose.
Any of the citizen heroes would wince at the thought of wearing the label of hero, but heroes they are.
